With modern systems like WordPress it’s very easy to throw a site which looks reasonably decent quickly and easily but in our experience many developers and agencies go no further than that.
A professional developer considers far more than that, taking into account everything from what the site goals are, the messaging and content, the construction of the site both visually and structurally, optmised and semantically-accurate code, accessibility, search engine appeal and so much more.
Your friend’s mate (who does a bit of web design on the side) can build you a site – but only an experienced, professional agency like Arcas can craft a site which looks good, works well and is perfectly positioned to achieve your goals.
It will depend upon the complexity of the project but normally 3-4 weeks is the starting point, with larger or more complex projects ranging from 4-12 weeks.
This is our most commonly asked question and the answer is … it depends.
It all comes down to the amount of work involved but as a general guide, for a professional development including design and build, we’d suggest a starting point of around £1300+VAT as the lower end of the range, around £3500+VAT for mid-tier projects and £7k+VAT and up for larger projects.

WordPress is a great choice for allowing sites to be built with maximum developmental flexibility, meaning that your site can easily scale and adapt as your needs do. It also means that you have more control over your own data without being tied to any third-party platforms.
Yes, unlike some other agencies you’ll find who simply want to target business in the Edinburgh area and so pretend to have an Edinburgh office, we have been based in Edinburgh since being founded in 1997.
In that time we’ve had offices based in the Grange, Morningside and Edinburgh’s city centre so we are always around for face-to-face chats if preferred and know the city and its businesses well.
