ASME

This is one of our biggest sites to date and ias based on 1.5.

ASME are a large charitable organisation with members across the world and they organise courses and conferences throughout the year.  Their existing site had served them well for many years however they wanted something more modern and flexible and also one that they could update themselves.

The site has many features including:

• Shopping Cart - a fully-featured shopping cart was installed on the site to allow them to sell their existing publications online, with features such as order tracking and status updates and dynamically selected postal rates.
• Online Membership Applications - ASME members can now apply for and renew their memberships online using a secure payment processor (WorldPay) which will hopefully allow them to expand their membership base with minimal effort on their part.
• Advanced Forms - the site has multiple course registration forms which all have advanced features such as validation and spam checking filters.  There is also one particularly complex form which calculates the total they are due for them based upon the values they have entered and then forwards them on for payment processing.
• Dynamic Site Map - the site has a dynamic site map which means that every time pages are created or moved around the site map updates itself.  This map is available to site visitors to allow them to quickly find the information they are looking for but more importantly a version of it is submitted to Google to ensure that it is kept up-to-date on the content of the site.
• PDF Indexing - the site makes use of 's built-in search function however since a lot of ASME's content is in PDF format we installed a plugin to ensure that the PDF content was also indexed and included in search results.
• Print Template - we created a seperate page template for printing which strips out all the unneccessary images and layout code and means that when someone goes to print a page from the site it is specifically laid out to come out better.
