SITE LAUNCH: Gourmet Kebabs/Abrakebabra

We were approached by the owner of a new gourmet kebab shop opening in Edinburgh to provide them with an updateable website on a tight budget and very tight timescale and we were only too happy to oblige!

The customer provided us with the site design/layout which allowed us to create the site more quickly and from start to finish the entire project took around 7 working days (including revisions and launch). The site features their menus and details of the restaurant as well as a contact form to allow customers to get in touch.

SITE LAUNCH: Strang Steel Property Search

We were approached by the managing director of a new business, Strang Steel Property Search, to provide him with a website which would give information on his services and allow potential clients to contact him about them as well as allow him to quickly and easily update the content of the website himself. His budget was tight but he wanted a site which would do everything that the needed to and so of course we turned to the wonderful Joomla 1.5 open source content management system!

SITE LAUNCH: ASME.org.uk

In one of our biggest site launches to date we are proud to present the brand-new website for the Association for the Study of Medical Education (ASME)!

Based upon the Joomla 1.5 CMS, this site not only features a large number of pages which give details on the organisation’s conferences and courses but also allows people to book their place on those courses online as well as to join the organisation via the website. In addition it features a fully-comprehensive ecommerce system (based upon the Virtuemart plugin) which allows them to sell their Understanding Medical Education series of booklets via the site. Here’s the full list of features:

Advanced forms for allowing site visitors to register for conferences and courses including one with custom javascript code to calculate the total they are due. All form data is stored in the database as well as being emailed to the site admins
Online payment processing by Worldpay for both booking forms (members and courses) and the ecommerce system
Fully-featured ecommerce system with custom postal rates and charges and an easy-to-track order process
Abstract submission forms which allow users to upload their own documents which are then emailed to site admins
A search facility which indexes PDFs as well as all site content and includes the relevant results in any searches performed

SITE LAUNCH: Penicuik High Reunion

A more fun site, this time for the wife of one of our officemates who is organising a school reunion for her year and wanted a website to give out basic information and let people buy tickets from.

The site is a simple one-page affair but needed to look fun and interesting to encourage people to go back in time and relive their school days! The site is fully laid out using CSS and features a slimbox popup image and a Paypal form to allow people to buy their tickets as well as a form to let them register their details.

SITE LAUNCH: Hot Chocolates Blog

As part of the process of assisting one of our clients, Hot Chocolates, in the search engine optimisation of their ecommerce website (designed by 39 Steps and built/maintained by Work Interactive) we suggested that they start a Wordpress blog to assist in adding more content to their site and gaining more inbound links.

We therefore designed and built a Wordpress theme for them which was designed to look like their existing website and we think we did a pretty good job of it! We installed various plugins to assist in the search engine optimisation including the All In One SEO Pack (to produce nice search engine friendly URLs) and the Google Sitemap plugin (to ensure that Google knows about all the posts that make up the blog and thinks HC have a great site with lots of juicy content!)

SITE LAUNCH: Flotsam and Jetsam

A new website for a puppet theatre company based in Edinburgh and putting on shows for kids young and old, the design was brought to us by the client and we built a Joomla-backed website based upon this.

The site has several pages plus we’ve made use of the Forms for Joomla component which means that any time their contact form is filled out it is thoroughly checked first before submission. There’s no nasty CAPTCHA code here, just a simple lookup of the email address to check that it exists before any form is allowed to be submitted - this should hopefully drastically cut down on any spam that they might receive.

SITE LAUNCH: Graham Mather Consulting

The brand-new website for Mather Consulting has just been launched at http://www.matherconsult.co.uk, designed and built by Arcas Computing.

The site is a simple static brochure site and makes use of Javascripted/CSS-based tooltips for an extensive diagram which is featured on the site to describe the services that they provide. The site is clean and clear and search engine friendly so if it looks like something you’d be interested in for your own business then go right ahead and contact us!

SITE LAUNCH: Citadel Youth Centre

We are pleased to announce the launch of the brand-new CITADEL YOUTH CENTRE website!

We were asked by the Youth Centre’s staff to refresh their existing site whose design had become outdated and had lots of dead links and other issues and to replace it with a funkier, user-updateable site instead. We took advantage of the Joomla open source Content Management System to build their site which includes forums and a gallery amongst other things.

The site has plenty of content on it with lots of downloads and it is designed to be easy for them to add “modules” to the site which draw attention to the various parts of the site as easily update the galleries and maintain the forums from a single administration area.

SITE LAUNCH: Paediatric Registrar

We were approached by Dr David Cordiner who had a site partially constructed for him by an off-shore agency which would act as a repository for a large number of documents which he has built up over his time as an active paediatric registrar to complete the site and improve it.

The site is based upon Joomla 1.0 and we (slightly) modified the design and finished page construction for him as well as doing various other fixes and amendments on his behalf.
